About Peter Sculthorpe
In 1999, Peter Sculthorpe was named as one of Australia’s 45 Icons, described as, “a visionary, an opinion maker, one who is making statements about something the nation needs to think about at this time”. Among his collaborators are leading Australian artists including choreographer/dancer Sir Robert Helpmann and painter Russell Drysdale, as well as every major orchestra in Australia, and leading world orchestras including the London Philharmonic.

Sculthorpe is Australia’s most prolifically published and lauded composer with a catalogue of over 350 works. His works are heavily influenced by the Australian identity, and in particular the Australian landscape.
